Moving from Unit Can-Do Statements to Daily Learning Targets
Learning targets are smaller indicators or descriptors of how learners incrementally move toward meeting unit Can-Do Statements and performance indicators. These targets must be small enough that they can be the focus of a single learning episode or a short series of multiple learning episodes. Learners show that they can accomplish these learning targets through a focused check for learning at the end of each learning episode.

Developing Key Learning Experiences to Guide Lesson Planning
Developing key learning experiences is often not included in curriculum planning. However, teachers benefit from expanding their curricular planning by developing key learning experiences for their units. Key learning experiences further unpack learning targets by outlining vocabulary and language chunks for each lesson Can-Do Statement, and also providing a corresponding check for learning.

Planning Less to Teach More
Planning and teaching in a performance-based and proficiency-focused program can be very time consuming and yet teachers have so little time to prepare the types of lessons that are needed to truly guide language growth in learners. Through a review of multiple lesson plan formats and a classroom activity repository, teachers will prepare for a more effective way to plan their lessons.
